ECNP School of Neuropsychopharmacology

Call for Applications
Participants at the SCNP 2011 meeting in Oslo are eligible to apply for the third course of the ECNP School of Neuropsychopharmacology. This course will be held from 3-8 July 2011 in Oxford, United Kingdom. SCNP will nominate 2-3 delegates that will attend the course free of charge and have their travel and accommodation expenses subsidized.

Deadline for application is April 1st 2011.

Who can apply?
The candidates would be qualified psychiatrists within 5 years of receiving their defining qualification and are likely to become key leaders of the speciality in the individual countries.

The Congress venue is situated in the centre of Oslo, only 100 meters from the Central Station and the Express train from Oslo Lufthavn Gadermoen. The Airport shuttle bus stops in front of the hotel. It is close to Oslo's finest shopping, sightseeing and entertainment. The congress venue also has indoor parking facilities if you arrive by car.

SCNP Young Researchers Educational Grants
The Board of the SCNP is very pleased to invite Young Researchers from the Nordic Countries to forward an application for participation in the 52nd Annual Meeting of the SCNP by submitting an abstract for poster presentation at the Meeting.

Deadline for submission is: March 1st 2011. Young Researchers who are not members of the SCNP must forward an application for membership.

A limited number of grants are available. See below.

Application Criteria

Young Researchers can apply if the meet the following criteria:
A researcher with an MD or similar academic background working with clinical or basic research within the fields of psychiatry or neuropsychopharmacology. Less than 40 years of age. For specialized doctors, the limit is 45 years.

Of the abstracts submitted by Young Researchers and accepted by the Scientific Committee the best Young Researchers applying will be granted the following:

  1. A reimbursement of the registration fee  
  2. Hotel accommodation for 2 nights at unspecified Hotel in Oslo.
  3. A travel refund of up to EUR 200 independent of travel route or form. Documentation of expenses must be presented.


ASTRA-ZENECA SCNP Young Scientist Symposium
A challenging competition for an oral presentation in Young Scientists Symposium is an attractive part of the Scientific Programme.

Only Members of the SCNP can participate in this competition.

Abstracts submitted by young scientists (< 40/45 years of age, see above) who wish to compete for participation in the Symposium should be clearly marked ?Young Scientist? and should indicate the date of birth. Abstracts must be received no later than March 1st 2011.

Of the abstracts received, six abstracts will be selected by the board of the SCNP for oral presentation in the ASTRA-ZENECA SCNP Young Scientists Symposium. Each of the six young scientists will get their registration fee and hotel accommodation refunded. The best presentation will be awarded with the ASTRA-ZENECA SCNP Young Scientist Award of EUR 3000 (for use in research) and the winner of the award will as well get his/her travel costs refunded as well. 

ECNP School of Neuropsychopharmacology

The ECNP School of Neuropsychopharmacology, established in 2009, is directed to the question:

How do we ensure that clinical neuropsychopharmacology will be practised to a high standard in 20 years time?

The aim of the ECNP School of Neuropsychopharmacology is to encourage excellence in clinical neuropsychopharmacology of psychiatrists within 5 years of receiving their defining qualification, who are likely to become the key leaders in individual countries. The candidates will receive high level training in neuropsychopharmacology from a faculty of international experts and will be involved in the development of local good practice in teaching and training.

Participants interested in participating in the ECNP School of Neuropsycho-pharmacology, should notify this on the abstract form. The participants will be selected on a competitive basis.
